Summary: Great Tagger
Details: As far as a media player, its up there with Windows Media Player, but where it surpasses them all is its tagging capability. In one quick move, you can tag and properly folder every song based on its ID3 tag name. Or, you can give it a tag name based on its file name. It comes with a ripper, and audio converter, so you can take your CD and put them into MP3s or high quality OGG Vorbis files (amoung others) instantly. Lastly, it has a decent equilizer and vizualization
Pros: TAGGING!!!
Cons: Play list is a little hard to manage

MediaMonkey 2.4 |
Summary: full featured, great Library and playlist features
Details: Folder-monitoring is well thought and integrated with the library. Auto-playlists; highly customisable, vitually as powerful as macro-programming, but with a very easy, intuitive interface. Good international support. All the normal features are also there; ripping, burning, CDDB look-up, Tags editing, synchonisation with a mobile player, supports all common formats, plus conversion between these... Even has a non-skinned option for those just want a normal looking application which is easy to use and to customise as the user sees fit. Supports winamp plugins, I currently use a plugin for global-hotkeys since these are not yet directly implemented by the program itself
Pros: Library, auto-playlists, highly customisable, truly user-friendly, full featured
Cons: costs money for the full-features version
Period used: 6 Months

Summary: Great cataloging and organizing.
Details: This software is great for managing tags, tracks, grouping and searching your music. On the other hand it doesn't have any fancy visual features. You decide what you need - a player that looks good or a player that lets you organize massive amount of files, and control your music like no other. Also, this player is very light, runs like a charm on a Pentium III with 256MB.

Summary: So far...
Details: So far MediaMonkey is the best Media player I've used with many advanced features which I use all the time. For example, every single track in my library (over 4200) is all converted to 160kbps mp3 so it is all the same quality. I did this with MediaMonkey as well as find all track information and organize the files using the feature which can organize the files you have into folders based on the mp3 tags. I love the Monkey...
Pros: Everything but one...
Cons: Only the fact that at times it'll do something stupid 'cause of a bug

MediaMonkey 2.4 |
Summary: Player for ambitious music lovers
Details: It's a cool player, especially compared with the Windows Media Player and iTunes it feels just slicker once you got used to it. The startup time is incredibly short, it seems to be consuming little resources, shows nice popups and manages all your songs in the integrated database, which you can update by one click. A nice feature, I especially like is the moving/renaming of music files by the information in the ID3-Tag and - especially compared with iTunes and Windows Media Player - the many audio formats it supports.
Pros: maaaany features, minimizes to tray, support for many audio-formats, auto-tagging/moving of files, comes with included database for titles, virtual-cd creation, cool skins available, feels just "smooth" while using, fast startup, nice baloons showing trac
Cons: some functions limited to commercial version, you will need some time until you get used to the player, DRM-protected files won't play, somewhat "fuzzy" equalizer (only two bars)

Summary: Mediamonkey is Awesome!
Details: It has a lot more features than iTunes, and is much simpler to use. It uses the Winamp engine to play songs so it sounds great. It has support for any winamp plugin. The best thing about it is its database management functions. You can automatically organize into folders using custom wildcards to rename files. It integrates with freedb. It is just all around awesome. There is a paid version, but I don't miss any of the features (faster cd burning, smart playlists, and sleep timer) so I don't have it. MediaMonkey 2.5.4 gold |
Summary: love it
Details: i used to love winamp, but switched over to mediamonkey and i absolutely love it. ease of use and it gives me all the power for easily organizing my music library on my pc. i'll never go back. only thing lacking is the sound quality of winamp. i still think winamp's player sounds a little better, but it's not enough to make me stop using mediamonkey.
Pros: organization, scripts, auto-tagging, auto-organizing, party mode
Cons: audio quality
Period used: 1 year
Other products used: winamp, itunes, musicmatch jukebox, pandora, wmp
